Hancocks. November 6, 2016

Hancocks.  The usual route.  I am too disgusted and angry with half of our voting population to write very much at the moment, but trust me -- Alex, Sage, and I have a plan to do whatever we can to support those wonderful organizations that Donald Trump and Mike Pence will, in their ignorance and hate of everything that is not White, Male, and Conservative Christian, do their best to pull down and destroy.  Our mission for the next four years is clear.  We will stand up for everything that is right and true, and we will do what we can to defend the vulnerable populations of our country.  We will not allow a Trump regime to ruin everything that love and light hold dear.  Alex and Sage will have something to say about all this on video on Alex's next post, which will be Monday evening.

Here are our pictures.  No views today, but we were greeted by one extremely fat gray jay who was far down below on the trail, nowhere near his/her usual summit spot.  Odd.

Too big to fly back up to where he/she's supposed to be..?

North Hancock...

No view by the viewpoint today...

Onward...

South Hancock...

Lovely view on the way back down...

'Til Monday.  In the meantime, stand up and speak out for people who need your help.  Don't allow a gay person to be bullied at your school.  Don't allow a cowardly racist to shout insults at someone who practices Islam.  Stand up.  Be brave.  Help us keep hold of our country -- liberty and justice FOR ALL.

Hear hear. I have fluctuated between tears/fragility, anger and desire to overcome all that the Trump party represent - and I live in Canada! I am devastated for what this will mean to my young children both socially and environmentally...blessings to you and your girls :)

Anything Trump and Pence want to get passed has to go through Congress, and the Supreme Court can rule some of those policies unconstitutional. With that in mind, I'm praying that some of the stuff they both have promised, particularly in regards to climate change, the wall on the Mexican border, abortion, and human rights, do not get passed at all. I'm not happy that they became president and vice-president, respectively. However, I am confident that 1. They will most likely be out of office before their first term is up because either one of them could be impeached in that time; and 2. Even if both of them do make it through their first 4-year term, they will not be re-elected.

Thanks to Jonah for the encouraging observations. You ladies have the right attitude; keep up the good fight and help others! I watched the video the girls made. GREAT!

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate your replies. Alex is on vacation with her dad this week, then she will reply to the comments on her blog.

In the past, when my preferred candidate didn't win, I've been disappointed for a while, then I've sucked it up and carried on. This election is very, very different; the President Elect is an openly racist and sexist man who is surrounding himself with openly racist, sexist, and homophobic people. None of this is good or right. I no longer have patience with Trump voters who are being obtuse about the damage they've done, and I could care less if either Alex or I lose readers over this...we figure the readers we lose are people who have never contributed to Global Fund for Women anyway, and they certainly wouldn't contribute to Planned Parenthood or the ACLU, etc. We don't care about losing those kinds of readers, for they are of no use when it comes to defending civil and reproductive rights. We would rather have five active, progressive, and caring readers than ten thousand apathetic ones.

Anyway, thanks for your remarks. The girls will spend the next month thinking about how they can best be of use as far as fundraising is concerned. Global Fund for Women is an excellent organization and we are proud to have raised money for them, and they still need support. The pull to now fight for what is right within our own borders, however, is strong.
