Thursday Things -- Movie Check

Books for Better Living has posted my list of "5 Parenting Books That Inspired Me."  You might be surprised at which books made the cut.  :)

Thursday Things

Time for a movie check.  As part of 101 Things in 202 Thursdays, the girls and I have decided to watch every movie on Rotten Tomatoes 101 Best Kid & Family Movie list.

I'm not going to do a review of every movie we watch from the 100 Best Family Movie list (does anyone really need another review of, say, Hugo?).  However, I will list the ones we've watched that I haven't already mentioned, and I'll make a few notations after titles we found particularly interesting.

We've seen -- Toy Story, Toy Story 2, Toy Story 3, The Wizard of OzWallace and Gromit in the Wrong Trousers (fun British humor, we're now going to check out more Wallace and Gromit movies), Up, Finding Nemo, How to Train Your Dragon, Babe (my kids did not like this one...the introduction freaked them out and they could not enjoy the rest of the movie), Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, The Secret of Roan Inish (a bit slow to start, but eventually quite engaging...the girls really got into the magical aspects of the story...and the seals were cute), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, 101 Dalmations (1961 version), Ratatouille, The Princess Bride (awesome!), Monsters Inc, Hugo, Fantastic Mr. Fox (we prefer the book to the movie), James and the Giant Peach, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin (meh...Robin Williams was trying too hard, and could Jasmine please put some clothes on?), Coraline (scary...those button eyes creeped me out), Tangled, Shrek, Ponyo (a beautiful, original story...sweet, magical...a must-see), Kung Fu Panda, and Kiki's Delivery Service (Japanese animation with a voiceover by the late great Phil Hartman...sweet movie, my girls loved it).

That leaves 56 movies on our to-do list.  I'm fairly certain we can watch all of them within the next three years.  :)
