Thursday Things -- This and That

Please join us this Saturday at 8pm in Pinkham Notch Visitor Center for our next book signing event!

I can now go back to hiking full force -- my health issues have resolved enough so that the risk of embolism is minuscule.  The girls and I will hike our next mountain on Sunday; I'll post the report on Tuesday the 26th.

We haven't completed anything new recently on our Thursday Things list, though we're closing in on #31 (watch all the educational DVDs in the house -- and weed through them), #51 (bake our own bread), and # 95 (create a new face for our broken cabinet drawer).

We've gone through the DVDs, but no one wants to give anything away (seriously, do we really need all these Magic School Bus episodes?).  I'm hoping to convince the girls to let some of these go.  They have enough stuff; I feel they should donate the DVDs they no longer watch to a charitable organization.

Baking our own bread is something we look forward to doing...but it's not going to happen this week.  We'll wait for the temperature to return to a humane number before tackling anything that involves heat.

Creating a new face for our broken cabinet drawers should have happened months ago, but creative differences have been a serious issue.  We each have our own ideas about how the project should be handled, and we've yet to reach a compromise.  Hopefully, we'll figure it out soon.

Looking ahead, we should be able to accomplish quite a few Thursday Things this summer.  Sage really wants to do a White Mountain hut-to-hut traverse, so if the timing and money works out, then we might do that in August.  I'd love to take the girls to a Renaissance Faire before fall, and we hope to visit Canada as soon as the girls' passports are renewed.  Also, it's only a matter of time before we're able to pass out candy to Appalachian Trail Thru-Hikers...they're beginning to appear in the Whites, and we regularly hike the same mountains they traverse.  Qualifying for Summit Cheeseburger should be do-able soon, too.

That's it for tonight -- all this heat makes me tired!!  I'll be back tomorrow with a Friday Wrap.
